Mwabless Malila is currently an Associate Professor at the Institute of Rural Development Planning (IRDP), Dodoma-Tanzania. He holds a Ph.D. in Rural Development from Sokoine University of Agriculture; Master Degree in Rural Development from Sokoine University of Agriculture and Bachelor of Arts with Education from University of Dar es Salaam. He also holds Ordinary Diploma in Education from Korogwe Teachers’ College. Before employment at IRDP, he worked in the Ministry of Education and Vocational Training (MoEVT) as a secondary school teacher and as an assistant lecturer at Tanzania Institute of Accountancy (TIA) Dar es Salaam campus. Mwabless Malila has published a number of papers in peer reviewed journals covering social sciences; education, child labour, technology adoption and renewable energy. He has also carried out research and consultancies across the country (Tanzania). He has supervised many undergraduate and post graduate students in research projects leading to dissertations production. Under Competence Based Education Training (CBET) system he engages in teaching several modules both undergraduate and postgraduate students: The modules include Applied social science research methods for Bachelor degree students; Research Methodology for Master degree students; Population and Education Development Planning for Bachelor degree students, Youth Unemployment and Development Planning for Bachelor degree students, and Child rights and development for Ordinary Diploma students. At IRDP Mwabless Malila also served as Registrar of Students (2019-2023), Headed the Institute’s Quality Assurance and Control Unit (2011-2019), Institute’s examinations coordinator (2004-2005), Chairperson Academic staff evaluation team (2006), Chairperson of the Institutes Board of Survey (2017). Facilitated Preparation of IRDP Quality Assurance and Control Policy (2013 & 2021), Facilitated development and review of the IRDP Students Guidelines for Dissertation writing 2005, 2013 and 2023. Curriculum development (Master Degree in Population Studies)-Institute of Rural Development Planning-Dodoma. Facilitated Preparation of IRDP Anticorruption Policy 2017. Reviewed curriculum for Bachelor Degree in Population and Development planning, Facilitated preparation of the IRDP Client Service Charter (2018), and Prepared the Institute’s Quality Management Plan in 2020.
