Africanus Calist Sarwatt (PhD) works as Lecturer in the Department of Rural Development and Regional Planning of the Institute of Rural Development Planning. He is a Planner and Policy Analyst with 20+ years of experience as a researcher, trainer and consultant in the field of teaches wide range of subjects including development planning, development management, human resource management, policy formulation and analysis, gender perspective in poverty reduction, poverty policy analysis including gender related policies, rural development, enterprise development, conflict resolution and management, Logical Framework Approach (LFA) and Field Force Analysis (FFA). As part of his career he has been involved in conducting researches and consultancies in the areas of; strategic plans development for various organizations, baseline surveys, training needs assessments aiming at developing training programme, training on leadership and management skills to different cadres, to mention a few. In addition, as academician Dr. Sarwatt has been involved in exhaustive trainings and skills acquired over years which include survey methods and techniques, techniques in dealing with adults, facilitation skills, group dynamics operations, M&E skills, use of interactive methods as well as skills in using different socioeconomic analysis tools, all these together gave him a vast experience of working with various stakeholders.
Main research and academic interest is on policies designed to eradicate or reduce poverty, decentralization, gender perspective in poverty eradication, rural development strategies, livelihood studies and assessments, policy reviews especially social and welfare policies.
