Prof. Zacharia Samwel Masanyiwa is a Professor of Development and Management Studies at the Institute of Rural Development Planning. In addition to teaching and doing research, Prof. Masanyiwa has been involved in consulting projects for a number of institutions, including the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), the former Department for International Development (DFID), now Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO), UN Women, AMREF Health Africa, Catholic Relief Services (CRS), World Vision Tanzania, and Plan International. He has a cumulative experience of more than 18 years in teaching, research and consultancy.
Prof. Masanyiwa has wide-ranging professional experience in implementing projects related to decentralization, gender, political and civic engagement, poverty assessment and analysis, climate change and, project monitoring and evaluation.
Prof. Masanyiwa’s main research interests include decentralization and local governance, gender and development, project monitoring and evaluation, poverty assessment and analysis.
